ABOUT THE ARTISTS
"Desyn Masiello": A name now synonymous with the most cutting edge dance music from all corners of the world. He has a style that is constantly evolving and pushing barriers... having already caught the ear of nearly all of the worlds largest DJs (Deep Dish, Sander K and Danny Howells nominating him as their ‘future DJ Hero’ in DJ Magazine's Top 100 poll).
Desyn incorporates house classics, deep, tech, funky and progressive. His musical taste takes inspiration from acid house, funk, soul, disco, rock, Indie, Brazilian, carnival, reggae, dub... the list is endless. "Many tracks I find may not be instantly playable to the new generation of dance, music, fanatics. So I use technology such as pro tools to re-edit tracks; they will then fit into my visions and slot into my sets”. Examples of Desyn’s edits that are played (by himself as well as fellow DJs/Producers) have been of Yellow, Blondie, the Eurythmics, The Beatles, Depeche Mode and James Brown. [Read More]
We caught up with Desyn recently (12/17/09) for an impromptu Q&A session.
See our interview with him at London Heathrow Airport here:
We can go on and on about Desyn, the DJ widely regarded as the Dean Martin of Electronic Music, but we'll let his music speak for itself...
Alex Moulton’s career blurs the lines of music, film, art and commerce. His epic sci-fi concept album “Exodus” was branded “Vangelis meets Daft Punk” by reviewers and was called “one of 2009’s top albums of the year!” by About.com. He’s performed from Tokyo to NYC’s Guggenheim Museum and is the only DJ to play at La Fenice in Venice, Italy.
As founder/creative director of Expansion Team, Alex has supervised and scored music for hundreds of brands like Nike, American Express and Target, and been responsible for audio branding many TV networks such as CNNi, Discovery and Universal. In recent years he’s overseen a dozen releases for Expansion Team Records, scored Rosario Dawson’s “Descent,” and directed videos for Tiga, Funkstörung and others.
Rami Deejay has rapidly established himself in the last year as one of New York’s rising talents by gaining a room full of of fans each time he plays. With a distinctly underground, deep, intelligent sound, but capable of destructive dancefloor euphoria within the same breath, his DJing and production is currently recognized by some of the industries top talents.
Thomas Pategas has made a name for himself in the NYC nightlife scene in a relatively short amount of time. Over the years, he's gained an extremely loyal following by spinning funky house tracks poured over chunky bass lines - a unique sound that has made him one of the top DJs in NYC nightlife. Often leaning towards the techy side of house music, he's mastered the winning craft of bringing dirty jackin beats to the DJ decks, earning recognition and respect from other DJ talents, club-goers, and promoters alike.
Kyu's love for music started at an early age of 8. He was classically trained in piano and violin for over 10 years. Always looking to expand his musically knowledge, he discovered EDM (Electronic Dance Music) in 1998. He started out by seeing live performances of djs such as PVD, Steve Lawler, Sasha and Digweed, Lee Burridge, Danny Howells and Richie Hawtin. Inspired by the musicality of all these djs and feeling he could add a unique aspect to EDM, he entered the world of the DJ. In 1999, he started his dj career playing at Recess in NYC. In 2004, he started a weekly party called, "Ignite", to highlight nyc local talent, where he played along side local djs such as Bill Patrick, Dennis Rodgers, Camea, Elon and DJ Sense, who have since then become world-class djs.
